Dipli launched its brand-new campaign to promote the refurbished market in an entirely new way, taking an original path inspired by summer. In this article, we want to share the creation process with you, in order to make you understand our authentic idea and, hopefully, bring you on board with us toward the refurbished world.

Setting up the foundations and a key instruction

Spring 2024 has arrived and summer is coming... Our marketing and communication team is especially inspired by this time of the year: they know something special can be made to bring a fresh renewal to one of the main Dipli's mission.

👉 That's how the idea was found: what if we create a summer campaign to promote the refurbished market?

Far from being just a marketing campaign, we wanted it to be an extension of our environmental responsibility: to inform people that an alternative to new has become powerful and can be as attractive and functional than new devices.

Brainstorming after brainstorming, the need of going further and surpassing ourselves was growing... It had to be unique but not elitist. The message had to be understood by everyone, professionals and private individuals alike. It had to last and surpass summer time.

In the end, our graphic designers had one key intruction to gather eveything together. They had to create merchandise that :

  • Collaborators and clients would likely wear outside their enterprise’s walls, because it’s made for everyday life,
  • Featuring a message that highlights Dipli’s missions and spirit.


In this way, we could both extend the campaign's lifespan with physical products and make an impact during the summer with an accompanying marketing campaign. The plan was set! Now, onto the creation process...

Behind the scene: the creation process, step by step

So now you obvisouly know that we wanted to deliver a message for the refurbished market, smoothly and beautifully. But how did we shine a light on this specific field that's ours? Let's dive into the making of.

1. The creation concept

First of all, you can't start this kind of marketing campaign through merchandise whithout thinking about a main concept. Here, we wanted to determine a creation concept through a tagline. Eventually, we ended up writing down three ideas:

As you know, the final choice was the first proposition: Reburbished is the new wave.
In fact, "new wave" reflects both a new movement or trend in refurbished products, which is exactly what we expected from our campaign, but also well describes our summer inspiration through the "wave" mention.

 

2. Moodboard

Of course, after finding THE tagline, it had to come down to the way we could illustrate it. A long research on 2024 summer graphic trends was made by our graphic designer. After all, we came up with 4 main inspirations:

  • Retro,
  • Vintage,
  • Mascott,
  • Abstract scribble.

3. From sketches to key visuals

Allright, we're almost there! You can clearly feel that we're nearing the end of the road since it's now time to reveal a few sketches of the key visual...

Even through the screen, we can sense your impatience to discover the final result. Let's bring the spotlight on it then!

 

4. Final graphic choice: packshot and mockup

A few sketches later, "Refurbished is the new wave" has finally come to life graphically:

  • Electric blue: #0c45a8,
  • Typography: Dharma Gothic E,
  • Pattern: retro wave,
  • Tagline: Refurbished is the new wave,
  • Key visuals: linked with summer trends through the retro wave and expressing the tagline.

5. Campaign video

To complete our work and go even further, our team also edited a campaign video to spread the message:

 

"Refurbished is the new wave" sustainable merchandise

To finish on a positive sustainable note, finding the best service provider was essential for us. Since our campaign promotes an ecological way to consume, that was logical to extend and reflect this idea through our final merchandise. That's why we chose to work with Kymono, a French brand that creates clothing from ecological materials:

  • 100% organic cotton certified by OEKO-TEX and GOTS,
  • 50% organic cotton and 50% recycled materials.


In the end, our effort to showcase the refurbished market's power through a brand-new, orignal campaign has been more successful than we could have imagined! We are truly proud of our graphic designers, who have given a real identity to this summer season's merchandise and highlighted the refurbished market that is shaping the world of tomorrow. 🍃
